A sought-after and versatile double bassist and bass guitarist, Doug studied music at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, where his mentors included jazz legend, Keith Tippett. He began his career with a European tour of the musical Cabaret and has since performed in theatre productions across Europe, the UK and the West End including Miss Saigon, The Witches of Eastwick, Acorn Antiques: The Musical, Grease, The Rocky Horror Show, Titanic and the Royal Shakespeare Company’s London production of The Merry Wives of Windsor.
He has also worked extensively in theatre education, contributing performances to productions by ArtsEd, London School of Musical Theatre, Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, Guildford School of Acting, Italia Conti and the Royal Central School of Speech & Drama, whilst also teaching on the Actor-Musician undergraduate course at Mountview.
Doug has performed alongside many famous faces including Marti Pellow, Richard O'Brien, Kenny Thomas, Ria Jones, Ramin Karimloo, Lee Mead, Lara Pulver, Kerry Ellis, Bobby Davro, Jack Foley, Richard Shelton, Mitch Winehouse and Suzie Kennedy, to name but a few. As well as performing live in numerous musicals and bands, Doug appears on several cast recordings, rock, pop and jazz albums.
